    We are making every effort to ensure that the Whitebark Pine Mountain Retreat is as sustainable as possible. We welcome any feedback you may have in order to improve. When we say sustainable, we mean that we are consciously making choices which meet the needs of our guests without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own. We are considering the social, environmental and economic impacts of our actions and decisions taken today (REF).

    In furnishing and finishing our unit we have prioritized local, small businesses, and certified B-Corp brands. We will publish the whole list of businesses we have supported in the making of this sanctuary (coming soon).

What’s a Whitebark Pine?

The Whitebark Pine Mountain Retreat pays tribute to the Whitebark Pine, a remarkable species of pine found in high concentration on the slopes at Panorama Mountain resort. Whitebark pine are a both an endangered species (under the Government of Canada's Species at Risk Act) and a keystone species (meaning they have a disproportionately large impact on their ecosystem). In 2023 Panorama became a certified Whitebark Friendly Ski Area by the Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation of Canada. We believe in the work that is being done by the Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation of Canada to support and restore populations of Whitebark Pine and wish to draw attention to the cause..
